Why do the people we love reject, leave, or don’t love us back? In the series, the all-girl lead stars hold a mirror up to us to show us how we can “transcend our brokenness” and be “The New Girl.”

Angelica Panganiban is known for her cutting quotes about love and heartbreak as the so-called "Hugot Queen." In her new iWantTFC original series “The Goodbye Girl,” she links up with Loisa Andalio, Barbie Imperial, Maris Racal, and Elisse Joson to teach viewers valuable lessons in self-love and moving on and give us even more relatable quotes to latch onto.

Why do the people we love reject, leave, or don’t love us back? In the series, the all-girl lead stars hold a mirror up to us to show us how we can “transcend our brokenness” and be “The New Girl.”

Here are some “hugot” lines from the most relatable scenes in the series:

  1. When Yanna (Angelica) gets drunk and accidentally hops on a livestream to broadcast her heartache:

Everything was a lie! Punyeta! May pag-ibig!”

  2. Yanna on her realization that she cannot force her ex-husband to love her back and that acceptance is the first step to healing:

“Masakit pa rin. Pero kilala ko si Y. He is a good person. And what he did, he did out of love - pinili niya ang taong mahal niya. And I have to respect that decision.”

“And for the sake of the people I love, I am also doing the same. I am deciding to let go. It's the only way that I will heal, that I can love myself again.”

  1. Mara (Loisa) is the type of girlfriend who mirrors the personality of her partner, which was not always apparent to her. When she comes to terms with this, she realizes that she doesn’t really know herself:

  1. A stranger, however, offers Mara these words of wisdom:

“Alam mo, ipinanganak tayong mag-isa, at mamamatay tayong mag-isa.

  1. Yanna on the morality of extramarital affairs:

  1. When Yanna perfectly captures what being a “bitter hopia” means:

  1. Ria (Maris) on realizing her worth after being hopelessly in love with a friend who’s only good to her when he needs her.

“Bakit? Bakit ngayon? Oo dati mahal kita. Dati. Pero iba na ngayon. May respeto na 'ko sa sarili ko. Ayoko nang maging panakip-butas mo.”

  1. Yanna on dumping one’s trauma on other people:

“I read somewhere na if you don't heal what hurt you, you'll bleed on people who didn't cut you. Ang lungkot 'di ba? But it's the truth.

  2. Yanna on being a fool for love:

“I read somewhere that for many people stupidity is a choice. But I'd say na sa pag-ibig, usually, the same can be said about blindness. When something doesn't fit the narrative we have created, no matter how smart some girls are, they still choose to ignore all the evidence and the fact, making them ‘Legally Blind.’”

  1.  Julia’s (Elisse) grandma on following one’s intuition:

  1.  Yanna on following one’s heart:

At dahil dito, these people will spend most of their lives short-changing themselves dahil naduwag sila - oblivious that we are all here on borrowed time. So while we are here, live freely and live courageously. Follow your heart, but listen to your mind.”

  1.  Yanna on finding the love you deserve:

“Many times, it feels like the fit is always wrong - mahal natin 'yung mga taong walang pakialam sa 'tin, at hindi nating mapilit ang sarili natin na mahalin 'yung mga taong baliw na baliw sa atin. But it doesn't mean we should stop looking, right? There are 7.8 billion people on the planet right now, siguro naman kahit isa dun, ka-match mo.”
