The dynamic and insightful discussions on Halalan 2022 have begun in ABS-CBN News’ newest podcast “POV:XYZ,” where veteran journalists Tony Velasquez and Danny Buenafe get to listen and exchange view with members of the Filipino youth.

In the first episode titled “The Power of the Youth Vote,” guests Kapamilya host and youth advocate Robi Domingo, popular YouTuber Janina Vela, and ASEAN Youth Advocates Network founder Mirus Ponon shared the traits of the presidential candidate that they will vote for in the coming elections.

“I want someone who is credible. Someone who's a doer and a listener at the same time and who really knows what the Filipino people need and deserve cause we deserve better,” shared Robi, who is among the Star Magic and Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo ambassadors that urged young Filipinos to register to vote in the 2022 national polls.

For Janina, the granddaughter of the late actress-TV host Helen Vela, her next president should have the “4 Cs” which are  character, competence, compassion, and good communication.

“I think my preferred candidate should embody what is good about the Philippines, not represent what is shameful about our past,” she added.

Meanwhile, Mirus wants a president that will motivate him to love the country even more.

“Selfless, tama ang intensyon, nakikinig sa tao, accountable, transparent, inclusive, nakakapagbigay ng inspirasyon sa ordinaryong mamamayang Pilipino tulad ko,” he described his bet.

Aside from what to look for in a president, Tony and Danny also asked them about the huge role that the youth will play in Halalan 2022 and their opinion on unfriending people who have different political views.

Last November 11, “POV:XYZ” tackled dirty tricks of political trolls in manipulating public discussion in its second episode. Joining the panel were Generation Y member Renee Karunungan and yFACTph youth advocate Hannah Mae Tubalinal, who is from Generation Z.
