A ‘monthsary song’ from Old School Records
“The Voice of the Philippines” season 2 winner Jason Dy delivers a soulful vocal performance in his new single “Tayong Dalawa,” dropping on digital music platforms this Friday (May 21).
Composed and arranged by Old School Records label head Kiko “KIKX” Salazar, the release of the neo-soul track has been a long time coming, written in 2007 when the genre was still in full bloom. Fast forward to 2018, KIKX started to revive “Tayong Dalawa” with Jason being the perfect artist in his mind to record it, who was immediately on board for the project.
“I remember then that the demo was already amazing and I thought, ‘Wow this is really good,’” Jason shared.
“But things happened, the release got delayed, the song evolved, and now it’s come full circle,” added the Kapamilya artist who previously worked with KIKX for “Diyan Ba Sa Langit” which also featured Morissette.
Set to be released under ABS-CBN’s Old School Records which aims to put out nostalgic music with a modern spin—KIKX believes now is the best time to release the track which he described as a ‘monthsary song.’
“Enjoy, as one of the most brilliant and skilled vocalists in our country brings us back the right amount of smooth and laidback groove this 2021,” he said.
