ABS-CBN Film Restoration celebrates the legacy of renowned Pinoy screenwriter Ricky Lee at the time of his birth month with a special commemorative online event, "Sagip Pelikula Spotlight: Ricky Lee on KTX.ph," featuring his timeless cinematic works beginning March 17 (Thursday).

Ricky, who is also one of the very first supporters of Sagip Pelikula since its beginning, then thanked the people behind the initiative of restoring Filipino cinematic classics. For him, preserving these films is a way of valuing Pinoy values, heritage, and culture through the years to come.

"I'd like to say that I really love, appreciate, and respect what you are doing. With what you're doing in restoring these films, you are preserving bits and pieces of humanity through time and history, whether inside or outside the industry, because what people see in films are true-to-life situations," Ricky shared in an interview.

As a way to value his contributions to Philippine cinema and for today's audiences to appreciate his countless works, Sagip Pelikula will stream his digitally restored classics anew on KTX, kicking off with the online premiere of Star Cinema's 1995 legal-drama film "Kapag May Katwiran... Ipaglaban Mo The Movie."

From the screenplay of Lee himself and directed by the late Marilou Diaz-Abaya, the film is a movie adaptation of ABS-CBN's hit legal-drama anthology series "Ipaglaban Mo," first hosted by Atty. Jose Sison in the '90s, depicting stories of actual cases settled in local courts.

"Kapag May Katwiran... Ipaglaban Mo The Movie" features the stories of Maria (Sharmaine Arnaiz) and Gilda (Chin-Chin Gutierrez), both victims of sexual assault, and how they sought due justice despite not gaining the upper hand against their perpetrators with prominent influence.

The film also starred veteran actors Elizabeth Oropesa, Ronaldo Valdez, Nida Blanca, Ricky Davao, Joel Torre, and Gina Alajar.

Viewers can watch the premiere of the digitally restored "Kapag May Katwiran... Ipaglaban Mo The Movie" starting March 17 at 7:30 PM on KTX, featuring a pre-show interview with Ricky Lee shown before every screening.

Tickets are now available at https://bit.ly/IpaglabanOnKTX for only P150.

Apart from "Kapag May Katwiran... Ipaglaban Mo The Movie," Sagip Pelikula's Spotlight series on Lee will also stream more of his restored classics, including "Noon at Ngayon," "Karnal," "Moral," "Cain at Abel," "Haplos," "Sa Aking Mga Kamay," among many others, with online tickets available on KTX.ph.

ABS-CBN Film Restoration celebrated its tenth year of restoring and remastering films from directors and writers of note for today’s viewers to appreciate through its Sagip Pelikula initiative. These efforts have earned multiple recognitions from award-giving bodies worldwide, including the prestigious Gold Quill Award given by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Gawad Pedro Bucaneg from Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL), and most recently the Gawad PASADO sa Pagsisinop ng mga De Kalibreng Pelikula distinction from the 23rd Gawad PASADO organized by Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro (PASADO).
