July 1, 2016 – Sagip Kapamilya heeded the call for relief of our Lumad Kapamilyas in the remote Barangay of Miarayon in Talakag, Bukidnon who are severely affected by El Nino. With the help of ABS-CBN RNG-CDO, Sagip was able to procure 1,050 kilograms (21 sacks) of rice for the relief operation. With the help of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish headed by Fr. Alvin Laput, SJ, the sacks of rice were delivered to Barangay Miarayon and distributed to the families in need of the relief. One sack was divided among 12 families who evacuated due to crossfire between the Army and the NPA. The remaining 20 sacks were re-bundled into 6-7 kilogram packs and were distributed to the families affected by the drought caused by El Nino.

A total of 167 families, most of them Lumads, benefitted from the packs of rice distributed. In behalf of the beneficiaries, the local parish expressed their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all Sagip Kapamilya donors for continuously helping people with the greatest need with the greatest compassion.
