“The very first thing is to give back to the Flipino people. We have so much blessings.”

The National Association of Filipino Dentists in America (NAFDA) once again visited the community of BayaNiJuan sa Southville 7 in Calauan, Laguna. It was a long ride but that did not hinder them for these dentists are on a mission.

The President of NAFDA, Dr. Donna Marie Calima shares, “We know that there are a lot of children who need dental health care. This is a small thing that we can do to give back to the community. It is our mission. If we could serve any community, it would be an honor for us. It’s not for any individual gain.”

In partnership with Bantay Bata 163-Laguna and BayaNiJuan, the dentists were able to serve 124 people in the community of free tooth extraction which included adults and children. The residents were very grateful for the dental mission just like Emolyn Bienvenida.

She says, “Maganda po na nagkaroon ulit sila ng dental mission dito sa BNJ, na may mga partner na pumupunta rito. Mas marami pong nabibigyan ng serbisyo kagaya ng aking anak na nabunutan ng libre.”

Dr. Calima adds, “A single person or a small group of people will already affect the whole community in dental health care. So as long as we have the association, we will always commit to doing this.”
