BayaNiJuan sa Southville 7 in Calauan, Laguna has become a home to more than 5,000 families who were displaced by Ondoy and the ongoing rehabilitation of the Pasig River. But last July 16, 2014, their homes were ravaged by Typhoon Glenda that hit the country, leaving grief-stricken residents.

One hundred days after the calamity, new and even better houses are built and the residents of BayaNiJuan are starting to get back on their feet with the help of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc.’s partners in Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is currently constructing houses that adopted the bungalow-type design for its Concrete Interlocking Blocks (CIBs), which will be completed in three to four months.

Residents were also given an opportunity to earn as some of them were hired for the construction of 45 houses in Zontaville and 95 others in SMC Ville. While 103 houses in SMC Ville will undergo reinforcement. Zontaville and SMC Ville are two of the badly hit subdivisions in BayaNiJuan community during the onslaught of Typhoon Glenda.

Every calamity is unplanned and unpredictable. But with different partners and working together, we will continue to rebuild communities and make them even better.
