Several business executives spent their Independence Day weekend exploring tourist destinations in the provinces of Samar and Leyte. Members of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) visited San Juan by the Bay in Santa Rita, Samar; Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge in Basey, Samar; Sabang Daguitan Surf Camp in Dulag, Leyte; and Da-O Balay Kawilan in Dulag, Leyte. The group were also treated to a tikog-weaving demonstration by the Basiao Weavers Association in Saob Cave, Basey, Samar.

MAP and FINEX members joined the flag-raising ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol of Leyte in Tacloban City. One of the MAP members, architect-urban planner Felino "Jun" Palafox" was one of the guests of honor of Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico "Mic" L. Petilla for the 119th Independence Day celebrations.

On June 12, the MAP-FINEX delegation went to the Provincial Capitol of Leyte to attend the flag-raising ceremony for the 119th Independence Day celebrations.

The visit to Leyte and Samar is the third group tour organized by MAP and FINEX. The groups visited Sorsogon last year and Palawan in 2015. FINEX vice president Grace Palma-Tiongco said they look forward to more tours to ALKFI-supported projects in the future.

Tour guide Larry Rambocod of the Sohoton Services Cooperative told FINEX and MAP members to use their imagination in conjuring images inside the Sohoton Caves.

ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, through its Bantay Kalikasan and Operation Sagip programs, has provided support to local organizations managing these tourist destinations. Assistance includes construction of tourism facilities and conduct of capacity-building activities.
