Aimed at strengthening partnerships and collaboration, the Southern Partners and Fair Trade Corporation (SPFTC) headed by its Executive Director - Gigi Labradores, recently went on a Lakbay Gabay to ABS CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc. - Bantay Kalikasan (ALKFI-BK) project assisted areas in Leyte and Samar last January 24-26, 2018.

The project areas visited included Sabang Daguitan Surf Camp and San Jose Skimboarding Camp in Dulag, Leyte and the Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge and San Juan by the Bay in Samar.

Lakbay Gabay is a project of BK in which communities are linked with one another and are given the opportunity to visit each other's sites to learn from their challenges, insights, and accomplishments. Mentor communities are able to share their journey and inspire start up communities as they begon to implement and manage their projects. It is a way for them to pass the hope forward.

SPFTC and its community partners who are mostly farmers, fisherfolks and small producers from Kinatarcan Island in Sta. Fe, Cebu interacted with the peoples organizations being assisted by ALKFI-BK after they were hit by super typhoon Yolanda.

The participants found the experience meaningful and fortifying as they learned about how the communities with similar backgrounds and challenges were able to overcome and succeed.
