As Bantay Bata 163 is celebrating its 20th year in the service of the Filipino Child, New World Hotels and Resorts continued their support for the program by donating one hundred percent (100%) of net proceeds in the recently concluded Run and Raise 2017.

Held last February 5, 2017, it was a day filled with stories of inspiration and hope, as the event had participants of all shapes and sizes, but with the common goal of helping Bantay Bata 163’s cause.

The programme was held inside the  Ipil-Ipil Grounds of the CCP Complex, with celebrity fitness trainers Jim and Toni Saret leading  and cheering participants early on. Triathlete and celebrity Kuya Kim Atienza also joined; leading the prayer for a successful event as well as safety of all runners, and also assured idyllic conditions for the run with his signature weather updates prior the gun start for the run.

This year's Run and Raise was a bigger event, with close to 1,500 participants joining four expanded categories of the run; 3KM, 5KM, 10KM, and 16KM – with three (3) runners standing out from the crowd;

Peter Beltran, 66, ran with his pomeranian puppy named Pepper. Like any others, Beltran used to run for physical fitness. But when he learned that the run will benefit scholars of Bantay Bata 163, he articulated that he’s way beyond happy to run and help at the same time – he also thought bringing his beloved Pepper will be interesting – and interesting it was, with several runners admiring the duo.

Amputee Runner and mountaineer Alfred Fernandez likewise finished a 3KM run. He asserted that there’s no excuse for him not to run.  His shirt that day said it all; “Lost my Leg, but not my courage”.

A surprising standout – nine (9)  year old Reese Benito  won the 3KM Female category  as she finished  the run in 17 minutes . “I ran and it’s fun, it feels good”, she said when asked how she felt, surrounded by other runners,

The run will benefit the  Bantay Bata 163’s Bantay Edukasyon Scholars.

ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya would like to thank New World Hotels & Resorts for  supporting Bantay Bata 163 on its 20th year of serving and protecting the Filipino children.
