Urian, ibibida ang OPM ngayong taon
Pormal nang inanunsyo ng Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino ang mga nominado sa 41st Gawad Urian na magaganap na sa Hunyo 14 (Huwebes) sa ABS-CBN Vertis Tent at eere ng live sa Cinema One, 7pm.
Nangunguna ngayong taon ang pelikulang “Respeto” na may 12 nominasyon kasama ang Best Picture, Best Director para kay Treb Monteras II, at Best Actor para sa rapper-actor na si Abra. Sumusunod naman ang Best Picture nominees na “Balangiga: Howling Wilderness” na may 10 nominasyon at “Tu Pug Imatuy” na may siyam na nominasyon. Kabilang din sa Best Picture nominees ang “The Chanters” na may pitong nominasyon, at “Birdshot” at “Bhoy Intsik,” na parehong may tig-anim na nominasyon.
May tig-anim ding nominasyon na natanggap ang mga pelikulang “Changing Partners,” “Ang Larawan,” at “Kita Kita.”
May temang Pinoy music ang inaabangang Gawad Urian 2018 dahil musical ang tatlo sa mga nangungunang pelikula, ang “Respeto,” “Ang Larawan,” at “Changing Partners.”
Paparangalan din ang jazz pianist, composer, arranger, at musical director na si Winston Raval (Vanishing Tribe) bilang Natatanging Gawad Urian awardee. Higit na sa 20 pelikula na ang ginawan niya ng film scoring. Kinilala rin si Winston bilang Best Musical Director para sa “Ikaw Ay Akin” sa 1977 Urian Awards.
Samantala, kabilang sa Best Actress nominees sina Alessandra de Rossi (“Kita Kita”), Joanna Ampil (“Ang Larawan”), Angeli Bayani (“Bagahe”), Gloria Diaz (“Si Chedeng at Si Apple”), Dexter Doria (“Paki”), Jally Nae Gilbaliga (“The Chanters”), Agot Isidro (“Changing Partners”), Elizabeth Oropesa (“Si Chedeng at Si Apple”), Bela Padilla (“100 Tula Para Kay Stella”), Angellie Nicholle Sanoy (“Bomba”), at Malona Sulatan (“Tu Pug Imatuy”).
Bukod naman kay Abra, sina Empoy Marquez (“Kita Kita”), Nonie Buencamino (“Smaller and Smaller Circles”), Timothy Castillo (“Neomanila”), Noel Comia Jr. (“Kiko Boksingero”), Allen Dizon (“Bomba”), RS Francisco, (“Boy Intsik”), Jojit Lorenzo (“Changing Partners”), Sandino Martin (“Changing Partners”), at Justine Samson (“Balangiga: Howling Wilderness”) ang inanunsyong Best Actor nominees.
Kabilang din sa mga nominado bilang Best Director sina Arnel Barbarona para sa “Tu Pug Imatuy,” Sigrid Andre Bernardo para sa “Kita Kita,” Khavn De La Cruz para sa “Balaliga: Howling Wilderness,” Joel Lamangan para sa “Bhoy Intsik,” James Robin Mayo para sa “The Chanters,” at Mikhail Red para sa “Birdshot.”
Nominado naman sa Best Supporting Actress sina Yayo Aguila para sa “Kiko Boksingero,” Angeli Bayani para sa “Maestra,” Shamaine Buencamino para sa “Paki,” Jasmine Curtis-Smith para sa “Siargao,” Chai Fonacier para sa “Respeto,” Nathalie Hart para sa “Historiographika Errata,” Odette Khan para sa “Bar Boys,” Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo para sa “Ang Larawan,” at Gloria Sevilla para sa “Maestra.”
Para sa Best Supporting Actor, nominado sina John Arcilla (“Birdshot”), Robert Arevalo (“Ang Larawan”), Romulo Caballero (“The Chanters”), Dido De la Paz (“Respeto”), Pio Del Rio (Balangiga: Howling Wilderness”), Nor Domingo (“Respeto”), Ronwaldo Martin (“Bhoy Intsik”), Jess Mendoza (“Sa Gabing Nanahimik ang mga Kuliglig”), at Arnold Reyes (“Birdshot”).
Sina Ryan Cayabyab (“Ang Larawan”), Arnel Barbarona (“Tu Pug Imatuy”), Vincent de Jesus (“Changing Partners”), Jay Durias for (“Respeto”), Erwin Fajardo (“The Chanters”), Khavn (“Balangiga: Howling Wilderness”), at Lutgardo Labad at Odoni Pestelos (“Smaller and Smaller Circles”) ang nakatanggap ng nominasyon para sa inaabangang Best Music.
Ilan pang pagkilalang aabangan ang Best Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Short Film at Best Documentary.
Ang mga nominado at mananalo ay pinipili mismo ng kapisanan ng Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino na kinabibilangan ng mga natatanging pangalan sa industriya. Ito ay pinangungunahan ng pangulo nito na si Rolando Tolentino kasama ang mga miyembro na sina Grace Javier Alfonso, Butch Francisco, Bienvenido Lumbera, Miguel Rapatan, Benilda Santos, Dr. Nicanor Tiongson, Tito Genova Valiente, Patrick Campos, Shirley Lua, at Gary Devilles.
Abangan ang 41th Gawad Urian sa Cinema One (SkyCable ch. 56, Destiny Cable Digital Channel 56, at Destiny Analog Ch. 37) sa darating na Hunyo 14, 7pm.
