Anne Curtis and Dingdong Dantes reunite this weekend on KBO with the TV premiere of their 2018 blockbuster movie “Sid & Aya: Not A Love Story,” with more than just the ‘kilig’ but with a few lessons in love.
Here are five times the movie offered viewers some truths--sometimes bitter, sometimes, sweet--about love.
1. When Sid decided to take a risk in love.
Faced with a crippling fear of failing in love, Sid finally decided Aya was worth the risk. If there is one thing this tells us, it’s that in love, there are no “sure balls” or assurances. Even if you give your all, there is still a huge chance that you might lose.
2. When Sid and Aya tried for the third time – and succeeded.
Sid and Aya’s love for each other was tested several times. Things did not turn out well in their first and second try but finally succeeded on the third time. Like what people say, there is always a perfect time for everything, including love.
3. When Sid realized a successful career couldn’t bring him happiness.
Sid is a stockbroker who achieved his success by all means, including stepping on other people on the way up. But when he met Aya and found in her a constant companion, he realized Aya was filling the gaps in his life.
4. When Aya showed Sid that ‘black swans” do exist.
Aya came into Sid’s life like a ‘black swan,’ which is defined in a philosophy book as an unforeseen or random event that changes everything. In this case, Aya’s arrival would prove to be a turning point in his life—and love.
5. When Sid proved--to his disappointment--that people sometimes settle for security and convenience in a relationship.
On the surface, Sid seemed contented with his life. He had a nice condo, a successful career, and even an open relationship with his girlfriend, Dani (Bubbles Paraiso), who agrees they can hook up with other people—knowing at the end of the day, they will come back to each other’s arms. But Sid also suffered from depression, which drove him to seek out the company of other people, even if he had to pay for it. Fortunately, it was Aya he ended up hiring.
Don’t miss “Sid & Aya: Not A Love Story” this Saturday (Sept. 8) and Sunday (Sept. 9) with “Loving In Tandem,” “Beauty and the Bestie,” “Buy Now, Die Later,” and “El Brujo.”
