Sharing the Good News, bringing the hottest stories
Early Saturday mornings are always full of hope and new learnings while weekday afternoons are hot with discussions on the biggest issues of the day thanks to the programs “Kape at Salita” at “Pasada Sais Trenta” on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo.
Listeners and viewers of “Kape at Salita,” anchored by Bro. Bo Sanchez, Bro. Alvin Barcelona, Bro. Randy Borromeo, and Sr. Rissa Singson Kawpeng, look forward to the show’s unique content, using the Word of God to teach practical tips in taking care of the family’s finances.
Meanwhile, new “Pasada Sais Trenta” anchors Peter Musñgi and Pat-P Daza’s dynamic banter and hard-hitting questions, which they carried over from their program for five years “Teka Muna,” have also become a hit among audiences in the afternoon timeslot.
The anchors of the two programs faced the media in a press conference last March 15 at Novotel Manila in Quezon City to share more about their shows and their experiences so far doing their programs.
“Kape at Salita” debuted in June 2018 after ABS-CBN News and Shepherd’s Voice Radio & Television, Inc. (SVRTVI) o Kerygma Radio signed a partnership to bring the program to DZMM. Bro. Alvin said that since they started, callers and texters usually ask them about issues on family, God, and finances.
“We need to talk about money as it affects almost all aspects of life - family, health, fulfilment of dreams. But this should be discussed based on what is taught in the Bible. If not, we run the risk of worshipping money and putting it at the center of our lives instead of using it to serve God and to glorify Him," Bro. Alvin said.
Bro. Randy added, “Money is not bad. Money in the hands of a good person can do good. When we look at money the right way and through the lens of the Bible, we will not be blinded by it, instead we will use it in the proper way.”
Rissa, meanwhile, said DZMM has been a big boost to their advocacy as they are now able to reach more people since apart from AM radio, DZMM is also seen on cable TV and ABS-CBN TVplus through DZMM TeleRadyo. Moreover, the station also has a strong online presence.
“Since we got here, about three weeks in, a lot of people would approach me and tell me they have watched or heard our program. DZMM truly has a wide reach," she said.
Peter and Pat-P, meanwhile, are able to reach more people now after leaving their weekend program for five years, “Teka Muna” to do “Pasada Sais Trenta.” In both programs, they get to talk to the people behind the news, dissecting the issues so that the people understand the issues affecting them
According to Peter, it was not a difficult decision to accept this new challenge for them, despite the apparent sacrifices that come with doing a daily show.
“It's a vote of confidence for us. They saw something in us that showed we our ready to do a daily program," said Peter.
Right away, DZMM’s dynamic duo was put to a challenge, co-anchoring the station’s election special “DZMM Ikaw Na Ba Senatorial Candidates’ Interviews” with the “Dos Por Dos” tandem of Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja. It was a very fulfilling experience, especially for Pat-P, who got to “jam” with broadcasting veterans in Anthony, Gerry, Peter as they get to know the people aspiring for a senate post.
“We are happy to say that we interviewed the most candidates, 48 out of 63, because we started featuring the candidates earlier than all the other networks. The candidates came, both big names and newcomers, because they felt that they were going to be given equal airtime and opportunity, fair treatment,” Pat-P said.
