About 700 Kapamilyas of all ages joined journalists and personalities from ABS-CBN in ABS-CBN News’ “Race Your Voice” obstacle fun run for voters’ education held recently at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.
ABS-CBN head of Integrated News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes, together with Jorge Carino, Chiara Zambrano, Jeff Canoy, Dyan Castillejo, and Gus Abelgas led participants in an energizing run where each stop tested their knowledge about the elections.
Senior citizens, couples, families, and barkadas challenged each other in answering questions on things like the process of voting and rules about ballots while going through obstacles like hurdles, garter mazes, and giant inflatable mountains and slides.
According to college student Diego Rosales, who conquered the obstacles with his friends and fellow STI Colleges-Fairview students, the event was a fun way to learn and refresh their knowledge on the elections.
“This fun run was very helpful to veteran, first-time, and future voters,” said Diego. “Even if you’re doing this for fun and with friends, you learn along the way and get reminded how important it is to participate in the elections.”
COMELEC representatives were also present at the event to help answer voters’ questions on the elections, lead participants through a step-by-step voting guide, and demonstrate how to cast a ballot on election day.
Before gun start, attendees also made a collective pledge to raise their voices and exercise their right to vote in the coming national elections on May 13.
Meanwhile, aside from the obstacle fun run, runners and spectators were treated to free basic health services courtesy of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya and performances led by Young JV, “PBB Otso” adult housemates Shawntel Cruz, Hanie Onofre, Camille Sandel, Kim Franco, JC Gamez, Wakim Regalado, Abi Kassem, and Tori Garcia; and “It’s Showtime’s” Brenda Mage, Czedy Rodriguez, Chad Kinis Lustre-Reid, Anna Patricia Lorenzo, Steph Robles, Charles Kieron, Zeus Collins, and Vitto Marquez.
Online singing sensations JThree, Brettdane Castillo, Shenikah Supin, Richard Estanes, and rappers Alex Bruce, Edmar Capalad, Mercifuletes Viola, who were featured in “Halalan 2019”-themed videos produced by ABS-CBN, also shared their talents. DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 anchor Ahwel Paz kept the energy up as the host of the event.
