NCAA schools unite to rock Season 95 on ABS-CBN S+A and iWant

July 01, 2019 AT 05 : 25 PM

The entire NCAA community is coming together to welcome the 95th season of the NCAA, which will air LIVE this Sunday (July 7) at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City starting at 11:30 am on ABS+CBN S+A on TV and online via iWant.

Filipino rock icon Bamboo and NCAA Battle of the Bands winners led by champion Cherry Band of Mapua University (MU) are set to fire up the opening ceremony, which marks the start of another year full of exciting games, inspiring stories, and new offerings from the oldest collegiate league in the land.

NCAA action begins with a double-header featuring the Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL) Knights and Season 94 finalist, the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Pirates at 2 pm, followed by Season 95 hosts Arellano University (AU) Chiefs and four-peat seeking San Beda University (SBU) Red Lions at 4 pm.

With a theme “Kaisa sa Pagkakaiba,” this season promotes unity despite the intense competition and diversity among the league’s 10 member schools – AU, CSJL, LPU, MU, SBU, College of Saint Benilde, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Jose Rizal University, San Sebastian College – Recoletos, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA . It also signals a bunch of new offerings and innovations from NCAA and ABS-CBN Sports that will give NCAA fans an even more engaging experience this season.

This includes the introduction of a groundbreaking new sport called “HADO” that will first be seen and experienced in the Philippines via an inter-school tournament that will be held in NCAA schools. HADO is a high tech dodgeball game where teams throw virtual fireballs at each other. Whoever wins the national championship in this experimental tournament in the NCAA earns a trip to Japan to represent the Philippines in the international HADO Finals.

Aside from that, NCAA will replace courtside reporters with campus correspondents from the member-schools who will produce exclusive stories on their teams and athletes for posting on social media and ABS-CBN Sports online platforms. Their vlogs will also be aired on TV during halftime.

Meanwhile, the popular NCAA On-Tour, which brings the league closer to students by holding the games inside the campuses, will once again be making rounds in NCAA schools together with ABS-CBN artists.

Fans can also look forward to watching NCAA on a weekend when it holds the twin bill featuring Mapua Cardinals vs. the Arellano Chiefs, followed by the marquee Letran vs San Beda rivalry match on a Saturday on August 10.

Don’t miss the opening of NCAA Season 95 led by hosts Arellano University this Sunday (July 7) LIVE from the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City starting at 11:30 am. Viewers can also tune in on S+A HD, LIGA, LIGA HD, as well as stream it on iWant, TFC.tv, and sports.abs-cbn.com. Game days will be every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
