ABS-CBN's blockbuster films premier on China cable TV

April 22, 2020 AT 01 : 51 PM

ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ leading media and entertainment company, continues to bring more entertainment choices to Chinese viewers as 16 of its blockbuster movies air on China’s Phoenix Movie Channel.

The airing of the movies was made possible by a deal that ABS-CBN signed with Phoenix Satellite Television in 2019. The channel aired “Four Sisters And A Wedding” last December 2019, followed by “Barcelona: A Love Untold” and “Love You To The Stars And Back” in March 2020.

This May, “The Achy Breaky Hearts,” a story of a woman on the cusp of middle age and on a journey to find true love, and “Dear Other Self,” a tale of lovers from vastly different worlds, will hit Chinese TV screens.

June brings a host of romantic movies, starting with “My Perfect You,” a story of a man who loses his way after his marriage proposal is rejected—until he meets a woman who brings light to his life.

Also airing is “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” a love story with a twist—the woman gets engaged, only to find out she has been married for a while—to another man.

Meanwhile, “My Ex and Whys” reunites a former couple to work on a project, but one of them has a plan to win back the other.

In “Always Be My Maybe,” two people rejected by their respected lovers fatefully meet in a resort and discover that, more than losing their loves, they have other things in common. “Can We Still Be Friends” tells the story of best friends turned lovers turned exes. Unlike many broken-up couples, they decide to remain friends.

“To Love Some Buddy” is about best friends-turned-lovers, and learning from the complications that come with the transition.

In July, viewers can catch award-winning Filipino films, including “Everything About Her” where a businesswoman finds out she has cancer and hires a private nurse to care for her. Eventually, the nurse does more good, this time for the ailing woman’s family.

“You’re My Boss” adds comedy to the mix with the story of a career woman desperately looking for love and acceptance, only to realize she need not look further than her personal assistant.

Airing on the same month is the digitally restored classic “I Will Wait for You In Heaven” (“Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit”), an adaptation of Emily Bronte’s “Wuthering Heights,” the classic tale of love destroyed by class distinction; and “Kasal,” where a woman is shaken by the return of a former flame soon after she is engaged to another man.
In November, “Siargao” will tell the story of a burned-out musician who escapes the troubles in the city and goes to an island where he eventually finds love.
