All set to bring more laughter on kumu

Twenty comedians made it as the finalists in FYE channel’s online comedy contest on kumu “Laugh Laban” and will compete to be the newest comedy star that will surely bring more fun and laughter to the world.

Included in the first batch of the top 20 are Leland Lim, a writer by day, stand-up comedian at heart from Pasig City; Christian Consing, the “Funny Reklamador” from Makati City; Dale Constantino, the “Next Joke” from Olongapo City; Mark San Pascual, the “Komikero” of Marikina City; and Pao Espineda, a host-comedian-vlogger from San Pablo City, Laguna.

Also part of the qualifiers are Jazz Billy Fadallan, a 25-year-old father from San Pablo city, Laguna; Sandy del Rosario, the “Bruno sa umaga, Mars sa gabi” of Pasay City; Nhouie Collins, a former “Singing Butanding Stand-up” now known as a “Social Climber Sitting Comedian” from Laguna; and Regienald Guevara, the “FunChub” of Cavite.

These top nine performed on kumu during the “Laugh Laban” pilot episode in front of host Alex Calleja and judges Ahwel Paz and Nikki Valdez, where kumunizens were also able to show their reactions through the comments and by sending virtual gifts like ‘LaughPAK’ or ‘Laglag’.

Last Friday (October 22), the second batch of finalists were also introduced and they are: Jeffrey Ancheta, a teacher by day, comedian by night; Francis Gabriel Belen, a longtime Pinoy comedy fan working as a BPO manager from Las Piñas; Jerricho Calingal, the “BakClash na hindi Aatrash”; Dawit Tabonares, a Bisayang comedian from the South; the Comedy kumu Team, whose goal is to give good vibes to the kumunity; and Ron Oliver Ucol, a tambay-turned-OFW-turned-tambay again.

The others who made it to the contest are Cedi Rendon, the “Boy Kulit” from Lipa, Batangas; Diana Ong, a “Konyong Jologs” who lives life like a comedy; Jrald Luces, a self-proclaimed ‘baby face’ writer from Quezon Province; Mark Llamado, the “Komedyanteng Sakto Lang,” and Truman Besillas, a bar stand-up comedian.

The budding comedians were selected by a pool of creatives led by Alex from the entries submitted on Jeepney TV’s website.

From these finalists, only 12 will move on to the next round where they will be divided into two batches again for a live face-off. After the head-to-head battles in the coming weeks, “Laugh Laban” will proclaim a new comedy star who will take home P100,000, sign an FYE contract, and star in a show with Alex.
