kumu streamer-turned-recording artist J Scott says he's a "Grown Up Man" in debut single

J Scott's “Grown Up Man” offers a chill vibe that’s in stark contrast with its lyrics about being more mature and ready for commitment in relationships.

From being a kumu streamer, up-and-coming talent J Scott has also made his way into the recording scene with his first single “Grown Up Man,” released under ABS-CBN’s Old School Records.

A fresh face in the music scene, J Scott revealed in a MYXclusive interview that he was discovered by label head Kikx Salazar while he was live streaming on Pinoy community platform kumu.

“At first, I didn’t know him. He asked me to sing ‘Akin Ka Na Lang,’ I just went for it, even if it was too high for me. Then he told me to look for who wrote the song, I was shocked. Then he told me that we should collab soon, and it actually happened,” he said.

As a music label committed to producing songs reminiscent of past eras of music and discovering new talents, Old School Records aims to bring back the sweet candy pop music prevalent during the 2000s through J Scott’s artistry.

“Grown Up Man,” written and composed by Kikx with Theo Martel, offers a chill vibe that’s in stark contrast with its lyrics about being more mature and ready for commitment in relationships.

“It's about a person who isn’t used to committing to someone and scared to be in a relationship. One day, he met someone who changed his mind and pushed him to be serious in love,” J Scott said.

Meanwhile, netizens congratulated him on YouTube for his new song. “Ganda bro! I just listened to it. More success to you,” Jake Seneres commented.

“Ganda ng music… Love you Jason Scott,” tinsk algabz said.

Although relatively a newbie, J Scott has already started to build quite a solid presence on social media sites like TikTok (58.8K followers) and kumu (16.88K followers).

Stop playing games in love and stream J Scott’s single “Grown Up Man,” out now on various digital music services. For more details, follow Old School Records on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
