ABS-CBN’s intense action series “The Iron Heart” has captivated a loyal audience deeply invested in following the story of Apollo (Richard Gutierrez). And every night, viewers revel and enjoy the thrilling and adrenaline-pumping action-packed scenes that have become a trademark for the show.
Lester Pimentel Ong, the director behind the series, believes that "The Iron Heart" stands as a testament to the Philippines’ ability to compete on a global stage.
"Traditionally, producers shy away from doing action movies or series because it entails a lot of work and incurs high production costs. However, ‘The Iron Heart’ was able to dispel the notion and proved that we can produce a quality action series while adhering to the same budget and timeframe in producing a drama series. Our goal is to start a new age for Philippine action entertainment," he said.
Lester further stressed the importance for content producers to keep up with the changing tastes of audiences who now have access to different media content and look for new elements in the show they watch.
"We really need to level up the quality because of intense competition. If we don't attempt to elevate the game of the Filipino action series, we may lose our existence," he explained.
The dedication, passion, and hard work of the show’s production team are paying off with the sustained surge of concurrent live viewership, which peaked at 341,748 last Monday.
Lester is grateful for the endless support of their viewers and the appreciation of their work as they strive to elevate the action genre on Philippine TV.
He credits the strong and talented cast led by Richard Gutierrez, Jake Cuenca, Dimples Romana, and many more, as instrumental in propelling the show to its present success.
"Our actors like Richard, Jake, Dimples, are very good. To be honest, I think our actors are the best in Asia or maybe the world. They can go toe to toe with the rest of the world in terms of their performances and skill sets. I think it should be fair for us filmmakers and creators to be at our best to showcase them," he shared.
Currently, Apollo tries to find out the connection between Joseph (JM de Guzman) and Atlas (Richard Quan). On the other hand, Menandro (Ian Veneracion) is suspicious about Eros' (Jake Cuenca) motives. Would Apollo and Menandro find out that Eros is the Commando of Altare?
