A young contestant instantly captured hearts and made waves online after expressing his interest in being adopted by his idol, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, in the first two episodes of the debut season of “Idol Kids Philippines.”

The lighthearted exchange with kiddie hopeful Gab, a soft-spoken seven-year-old from Parañaque City, quickly became a fan favorite and has now racked up nearly 11 million views across social media platforms. Gab won over both judges and viewers with his heartfelt rendition of “Kumusta Ka,” securing a spot in the show’s midrounds.

Also among the most talked-about contestants is kiddie hopeful Alexa, a nine-year-old from Laguna, who stunned the judges with her high-energy version of “Nosi Balasi.” She earned four “yes” votes and advanced to the next round.

Netizens likewise praised kiddie hopeful Liam, a seven-year-old from Sta. Cruz, Laguna, for his rendition of JK Labajo’s “Buwan.” He was the first kiddie hopeful to perform in front of the judges and the first to receive a “yes” from all four. His audition ended on a high note as he shared a surprise duet with his idol, JK Labajo.

On the other hand, a heartfelt moment came from kiddie hopeful Kiefer, a seven-year-old from Pangasinan, who sang “May Bukas Pa” in hopes of winning and helping his father get a prosthetic eye. While he didn’t move on to the next round, the four judges were deeply moved by his story and pledged to shoulder the expenses of his father’s prosthetic eye.
