Moms showcase culinary skills with prominent chefs as mentor-judges
“Umagang Kay Ganda” is putting the spotlight on loving, caring, and resourceful moms once again as the search for the “KusiReyna 2018” begins on September 4 (Tuesday).
Moms from all over the country will compete for kitchen supremacy and the “KusiReyna” crown as they showcase their culinary skills and wit in the kitchen right in the “UKG” studio, with anchors Anthony Taberna, Amy Perez, Jorge Carino, Gretchen Ho, Ariel Ureta, and Winnie Cordero cheering them on.
Like in last year’s “Nanay Kong Ganda,” a search for outstanding mothers that culminated in Hong Kong, fabulous prizes await the grand winner of this tribute to mothers including a house and lot from Lumina homes.
The morning show has begun making the rounds of barangays and provinces nationwide, as Winnie meets aspiring “KusiReyna” contestants and gets a taste of their cooking. Joining Winnie are mentor-judges like internationally-renowned chef Tatung Sarthou, Bagoong Club executive chef Tristan Bayani, and Kapampangan cuisine expert Lillian Borromeo.
The decade-long morning show hopes to further help and support mothers with contests and programs like the “Nanay Convention” (NanayCon) where the UKG family goes around the country for a full day of talks, cooking demo, games, surprise performances and prizes, just for mom. This year, the NanayCon has been to San Jose De Monte in Bulacan and Cebu City, where they were serenaded by Renz Verano, Bryan Termulo, and “Boyfie ng Bayan” Marlo Mortel. NanayCOn will head to Mindanao this September 24.
Meanwhile, aside from “KusiReyna” and NanayCon, viewers can look forward to seeing more of their favorite celebrities and love teams in a more intimate setting as they play fun games and do fun activities on “UKG Online Exclusives,” which are posted on the show’s official social media accounts.
The Kapamilya network’s well-loved morning show continues to draw more viewers in the early morning timeslot, according to data from Kantar Media. The show has also received numerous awards including the Best Morning Show by Lyceum Batangas and Global City Innovative College in 2018.
