Donnie "Ahas" Nietes believes Pacquiao can take down Adrien Broner.
Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, the Philippines’ longest-reigning boxing world champion, believes Filipinos will witness a great fight when Manny Pacquiao stakes his WBA Welterweight champion belt this Sunday (January 20) against American Adrien Broner in Las Vegas, USA.
Fresh from his December 31 victory in “Pinoy Pride Presents: Nietes vs Ioka,” where he became a four-division champion, Nietes shared that Pacquiao’s 29-year old challenger has the skills that can bring out the best from Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs), who looks to add another win in his already legendary career.
“Magandang laban iyun dahil magaling ‘yun si Broner,” he said during an interview in ABS-CBN.
With a record of 33-3-1 and 24 knockouts, Broner is a legit contender with a notable defense and used to be the WBA Welterweight champion. Nietes, however, thinks the win is a lock for the 40-year old Pacquiao, who like him has been able to retain his power and quickness through the years.
“Sa tingin ko, kung hindi mapatumba ni Manny si Broner, kakayanin naman sa decision,” the pride of Murcia, Negros Occidental explained.
The 36-year old and newly-crowned WBO Super Flyweight world champion will be watching the Pacquiao-Broner showdown in Cebu, the home of ALA Promotions, where he trains as he waits for his next fight.
