Jane de Leon fights for her dignity in “Ipaglaban Mo”

Bears a child after being raped

A determined Jane de Leon fights for justice as she plays the role of a 17-year-old rape victim, Tere, in this Saturday’s (March 23) “Ipaglaban Mo” episode about getting back one’s dignity.

The diligent and strong-willed Tere (Jane de Leon) is her own mother’s Salume “Umeng” Bandol (Meryll Soriano) source of strength. She will eventually stop going to school to help her family and serve as a helper to Cora (Lara Morena) and Jerome (Michael Rivero), a good-natured couple who sees potential in her.  Because of Tere’s goodness and loyalty, the couple decides to help her finish college.

But tragedy would soon strike when Tere’s  friends, Makot (Josef Elizarde) at Dandan (Lloyd Zaragosa) invade the home of Tere’s employers and rapes her in her sleep. They threaten to kill her if she reveals what happened to her.

Tere tries to move on from the heartbreaking episode in her life—until she gets raped again by the same men. At this point, Tere feels hopeless and attempts to kill herself. She recovers but soon discovers that she has become pregnant because of the crime.

Tere soon finds strength to face her rapists and take on the fight of her life when she files for charges in court.

What will the court’s decision be as Tere faces off with her rapists? Will she be able to accept the child in her womb that resulted from the rape?

“Ipaglaban Mo,” the only legal drama on Philippine television, offers viewers entertaining and informative episodes about real-life cases, which they may learn from. It also offers free legal advice to the public every week at ABS-CBN’s Tulong Center in Quezon City.
