Teen stars Edward Barber and Grae Fernandez bring to life the magical story of twins whose lives are separated by a curse and are destined to be mortal enemies in the newest Kapamilya fantaserye “Hiwaga ng Kambat,” which airs Sunday nights on ABS-CBN.
Twins Iking (Edward) and Mateo (Grae) have always been polar opposites. Iking was born with features that resemble a bat, while Mateo grows up to be conceited because of his good looks and luxurious lifestyle. Their contrasting personalities will make them bitter rivals, as Mateo constantly humiliates Iking in front of everyone at school for his distinct qualities. But their worlds will slowly collide as they discover secrets from the past that will change the course of their lives.
The series was an instant hit as the show’s pilot episode last April 21 recorded a national TV rating of 24.4%, compared to “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko” (12.1%), according to data from Kantar Media. The Kapamily fantaserye once again won its timeslot last Sunday (April 28) with 22.7%, compared to its rival show (14%).
It also led the list of trending topics online as netizens shared their praises and excitement for the series.
“Spectacular! Action, love story, comedy, fantasy, and moral story in one. One-stop teleserye. Looking forward to next week,” said Twitter user @Lorre_Hanae.
“Intense. It’s just the beginning but so much has already happened. There are a lot of questions in our mind. You’ll surely tune in to the story of Kambat,” @ecuttel tweeted.
“The story is well-paced. Every scene is important because you’ll gather info that will feed your curiosity, but it still leaves you wanting for more to know more. Excited for the next episode,” YouTube user Ma. Isabel Cura commented.
“A lot of moral lessons can be picked up from this. We should value any kind of person and do good to our fellowmen,” said another YouTube user April Romel Caro.
Viewers are in for more surprises this Sunday (May 5) as Mateo and Iking face each other in an arnis battle. Despite having a poor eyesight, Iking will impress Mateo with his abilities, urging the latter to ask for a rematch. But before their fight ends, Iking will run away to make sure his enemy will not see his transformation into a human bat.
