Papasukin na rin ng ABS-CBN ang Hollywood production sa pakikipagsanib-puwersa nito sa US film at TV outfit na Electric Entertainment, na pinangungunahan ng Filipino-American producer na si Dean Devlin, upang i-produce ang U.S. crime series na “Off Tropic.”
Ang palabas ay isang crime drama series na kukunan sa Cebu at eere sa United States sa cable company na WGN America. Ito ang unang pagsabak ng ABS-CBN sa Hollywood television production.
“Ito ay isa sa marami pang strategic partnerships at collaborations kasama ang partners mula sa iba’t-ibang parte ng mundo at nasasabik kami ngayon sa pakikipag-partner namin sa Electric Entertainment para mag-line produce ng US series para sa kanila,” sabi ng ABS-CBN head of international production and co-production division Ruel S. Bayani.
Sa kasalukuyan, may iba’t-ibang partnerships nang nabuo ang international co-production division ng ABS-CBN mula sa Southeast Asia, United States, at Europe.
“We chose to partner with ABS-CBN because they have been so instrumental in the development of talent here both in front and behind the camera. I think they have the most experience and they have just been amazing partners. This is going to change the way people perceive the entertainment business in the Philippines (Pinili naming makipag-partner sa ABS-CBN dahil naging malaking instrument sila sa paghubog sa talento rito sa likod at harap ng camera. Isang magandang oportunidad ito para sa mga Pilipinong aktor dahil karamihan sa cast ng US series ay kukunin sa loob ng bansa. Isang Pinay actress ang gaganap bilang bidang babae at makakasama niya ang American actor na si Christian Kane, na bumida na rin sa TV series na “Angel,” “Leverage,” “The Librarians,” at “Into the West”.
Ang Electric Entertainment ang lumikha sa sikat na television series na “The Librarians,” na ngayon ay nasa ika-apat nang season nito mula Disyembre 2017, at “Leverage” na umere noong 2008 hanggang 2012. Ang US TV at film outfit din ang kumpanya sa likod ng thriller films gaya ng “Bad Samaritan,” na napanood sa sinehan noong 2018.
Ang chief executive officer ng Electric Entertainment na si Dean Devlin ang executive producer, magsusulat ng first two episodes, at magdidirek sa final ng US series. Ang “Off Tropic” ang kauna-unahang proyekto ni Dean na kanyang ipo-produce sa Pilipinas. Nakilala siya sa buong mundo sa paglikha sa mga hit movie na “Independence Day,” “Godzilla,” at “The Patriot.”
