Kapamilya stars raise millions for Odette survivors through “By Request” concerts

More than 90,000 families who lost their homes and livelihoods due to Super Typhoon Odette have already received aid from ABS-CBN Foundation with the help of donations raised via the “Tulong-Tulong sa Pag-ahon” fund drive.

Operation Odette has reached 92,845 families or 464,225 Filipinos in areas devastated by the typhoon such as Antique, Bohol, Bukidnon, Cebu, Dinagat Islands, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Palawan, Siargao Island, Southern Leyte, and Surigao City. They were brought food and basic necessities to help them get through the days as they begin to rebuild their lives again.

Moreover, there were 41,346 individuals served with hot meals from the Mobile Kitchen.

Helping ABS-CBN Foundation in this mission are private companies, local volunteers, and government agencies such as the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“They are always open to partner with us in bringing help to those in need. While our kababayans try to rise from this tragedy, we will not stop in pursuing this advocacy,” said Sagip Kapamilya program head Earl Bacabac in an interview with “TV Patrol.”

As of January 16, the foundation has received P65,436,000 in cash donations and in kind donations such as rice, canned goods, water, hygiene kits, and blankets  worth P12,599,000.

With approximately 1.4 million families affected by Super Typhoon Odette, ABS-CBN launched on January 9 the second phase of its fund drive called “Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan,” wherein it will have consecutive fundraising activities in 100 days for the benefit of Odette survivors.

The first event, called “By Request” A Benefit Concert, hosted by Darla Sauler, already raised over P3.5 million with the help of stars Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Kyle Echarri, Ogie Alcasid, KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad, Jed Madela, Gigi De Lana and  GG Vibes Band, Moira Dela Torre with Jason Marvin and I Belong to the Zoo, and Darren Espanto, who would perform song requests from donors. Next on the mic are Erik Santos, who performs tonight (January 17) at 8 pm, while Gary Valenciano will be the finale artist tomorrow (January 18).

This will be followed by “Truth or Dare,” where Kapamilya leading men will answer questions and do challenges from donors from January 19 to 28 on the same platforms: FYE Channel on Kumu, ABS-CBN Entertainment Facebook page and YouTube channel, and iWantTFC.

People can also help by availing Tulong Bag donation vouchers on Lazada and Shopee.  A P100 Tulong Bag donation voucher will provide a food pack containing 1kg rice and two canned goods for an individual while the P400 Tulong Family Bag donation voucher will provide a food pack of 5kg rice and six canned goods for one family.
