Kapamilya programs and personalities among winners
ABS-CBN continues to receive the academic community’s approval as it won twelve awards including Best Media Company at the 20th Gawad Tanglaw.
The country’s leading content provider, which continues to bring world-class Filipino stories on various platforms through different partnerships, was also honored with the Gawad Manuel L. Quezon University para sa Sining at Kultura ng Telebisyon.
In the entertainment category, “The Broken Marriage Vow” emerged as a big winner, clinching the Best Teleserye award and Best TV Actress award for Jodi Sta. Maria for her portrayal of Dr. Jill Ilustre. On the other hand, the Best TV Actor award went to Piolo Pascual for his performance in “Flower of Evil.”
Kapamilya shows “It’s Showtime” and “ASAP Natin ‘To” won as Best TV Variety Shows while its hosts, Anne Curtis and Gary Valenciano, were the recipients of the Gawad sa Sining at Kultura ng Paglilingkod sa Bayan.
Vice Ganda was also awarded the Gawad Dr. Debbie Francisco para sa Sining at Kultura ng Pangmadlang Komunikasyon.
ABS-CBN’s news programs and journalists also bagged top honors, including Best TV Newscast for “TV Patrol” and Best TV News Anchor for Henry Omaga-Diaz.
Doris Bigonia and Alvin Elchico were hailed as Outstanding TeleRadyo Anchors, while ANC’s “At the Moment (ATM)” triumphed as the Best Lifestyle Program.
The Gawad Tanglaw, or Gawad Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw, which is composed of film critics, scholars, historians, and members of the academe, aims to recognize exemplary works in various media.
