The Anak TV Awards are given by Anak TV, an organization that promotes television literacy and advocates for child-sensitive, family-friendly television in the country. The Anak TV seal helps ensure parents that the programs being aired are suitable for children. Meanwhile, the Makabata Star awardees were voted during the various symposia on media literacy, and program screenings conducted by Anak TV in major schools and universities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The Net Makabata award is based on the result of the online voting held from 9-13 November where netizens cast their votes for personalities who, they deem, help positively shape and influence the lives of children and netizens.
