 No longer afraid to fail

OPM hitmaker Ice Seguerra is set to drop this Friday (Aug. 8) his first all-original album called “Being Ice,” with songs he penned himself reflecting his journey towards courage and maturity.

“It took me a while. For the longest time hindi ako naging matapang because I was afraid to share my thoughts, to share what I was really feeling kasi I was afraid to fail,” he said, recalling his fear that his family’s livelihood would be affected if he failed as a songwriter amid the pressure of coming up with a hit.

“Being Ice” is the maiden music offering of Fire and Ice Music in partnership with Star Music and it contains eight tracks that chronicles Ice’s journey through depression, grief, self-love, long-distance devotion, parental legacy, and queer joy.

It took him 10 years after his last album, “Araw Gabi” with Ryan Cayabyab, before coming up with a new one as he went through challenges before reaching a level of self-understanding.

“I had to mature. It took me 10 years, or probably more, to mature, to accept if things don’t go my way, ok lang, I can always move forward,” admitted Ice.

New tracks in the album are “Anino,” which is Ice’s coming-out letter to his fans; “Ikaw Lang” about LDR heartbreak-turned-love vow; a song about hidden love “Lost in Time;” a wedding anthem called “Ikaw Pala ‘Yon;” and “Natapos Ang Lahat,” which is meant to be a final goodbye to a loved one.

His recent releases, “Shelter of the Broken,” “‘Wag Na Lang Pala,” and “Nandiyan Ka” are also part of the album.

“Being Ice” will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms starting Friday (August 8). For more details, follow Star Music on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
