Also spotlighting romance and adventure-themed films this summer

Primetime King Coco Martin takes over Cinema One this April as his well-loved box-office hits headline Blockbuster Sundays, giving viewers a weekly treat of must-watch Filipino films.

From action-packed to heartfelt romance and laugh-out-loud comedy, the special lineup, airing every Sunday at 7 pm, showcases the versatility of the Kapamilya star:

  1. The boyfriend-for-hire Gabo in “Labyu with an Accent”

Premiering on Cinema One this April 5, “Labyu with an Accent” centers on Gabo (Coco), a hardworking man in the Philippines who enters into a “boyfriend-for-hire” arrangement with Tricia (Jodi Sta. Maria), a wealthy woman nursing a broken heart after returning from the U.S. As Gabo provides her with the ultimate “probinsyano” experience to help her heal, the two develop a genuine connection despite their vastly different social backgrounds and the pressures of Tricia’s high-society life. “Labyu with an Accent” will be aired exclusively on cable only.

  1. On a mission to clear his name as a bodyguard named Pol in “3pol Trobol: Huli Ka Balbon!”

In “3pol Trobol: Huli Ka Balbon!,” which airs on April 12, Pol (Coco) is a dedicated bodyguard who is framed for the murder of his boss and must go on the run to clear his name. To evade the law and protect his family, he disguises himself as a woman named Paloma while teaming up with the daughter of his boss (Jennylyn Mercado) to take down the real criminals. Their mission turns into a chaotic race against time as they uncover a deeper conspiracy involving high-ranking officials.

  1. Heroic adventure as the new Panday in “Ang Panday”

In the 2017 reboot of “Ang Panday” showing on April 19, Coco plays Flavio III, a street-smart man living in Tondo who discovers he is the descendant of a legendary original blacksmith. Upon finding a magical dagger that transforms into a powerful sword, he must embrace his destiny as the new “Panday” to protect the human world from the evil immortal, Lizardo.

  1. Tough guy with a kind heart named Paco in “The Super Parental Guardians”

Coco teams up with Vice Ganda in “The Super Parental Guardians” where they portray Paco and Arci, who are forced to share a roof and care for the two children left behind by Arci’s late best friend. Despite their clashing personalities—Arci’s flamboyant nature versus Paco’s rugged, tough-guy persona—the two must learn to cooperate to provide a stable home while dealing with a dangerous criminal gang this April 26.

Apart from Coco’s movies, Daniel Padilla’s unforgettable chick flicks will also air on Cinema One this month via Romance Central. Viewers can relive the kilig and drama of “Barcelona: A Love Untold” on Apr. 5, “She’s Dating the Gangster” on Apr. 12, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” on Apr. 19, and “The Hows of Us” on Apr. 26, 5pm.
