Featuring heartwarming stories of a mother’s love and sacrifice

Cinema One celebrates Mother’s Day with a special movie marathon that shines a light on the warmth, strength, and unconditional love of mothers this May.

Airing on May 10 (Sunday) on cable and streaming on iWant, the curated lineup features a mix of heartfelt dramas and lighthearted favorites that reflect the many faces of motherhood—stories that will make viewers laugh, cry, and feel deeply loved.

  1. An OFW mom returning home in “Anak”

“Anak” follows the story of Josie (Vilma Santos) who leaves the Philippines to work abroad, hoping to provide a better life for her family, but returns a year later to a strained relationship with her children. As resentment and misunderstandings surface, both struggle to reconnect and heal the emotional distance caused by years of separation.

  1. The humorous resilience of a mother in “Ang Tanging Ina”

Ai-Ai Delas Alas made a remarkable splash on the big screen with her role in “Ang Tanging Ina” as Ina Motencillo. Ina is a single mother struggling to raise her dozen children after being left by her husband. Despite financial hardship and personal setbacks, she does everything she can to provide for her family while keeping them together. Through humor and heart, the film captures a mother’s resilience and sacrifice.

  1. Unresolved conflicts and forgiveness in “Four Sisters and a Wedding”

Sisters Bobbie (Bea Alonzo,) Alex (Angel Locsin), Teddie (Toni Gonzaga), and Gabbie (Shaina Magdayao) reunite to stop their younger brother CJ (Enchong Dee) from rushing into marriage in “Four Sisters and a Wedding.” As they work together, personal struggles and long-standing conflicts involving their mother Grace (Coney Reyes) surface within the family, forcing them to confront their unresolved issues and their yearning for a mother’s love.

  1. Worries of struggling parents in “Love Child”

Premiering on the cable channel only, “Love Child” follows Ayla (Jane Oineza) and Paolo (RK Bagatsing) as they navigate the challenges of raising a child with autism spectrum disorder. As financial problems and emotional strain take a toll on both their roles as parents and their relationship, their love is put to the test against the realities they face.

5. Enduring marriage woes in “Three Words to Forever”

In “Three Words to Forever,” Richard Gomez and Sharon Cuneta team up as a married couple whose relationship has gone cold. Rick (Richard Gomez) and Cristy (Sharon Cuneta) have decided to go their separate ways, but end up delaying their decision due to the homecoming of their daughter Tin and the wedding anniversary of Cristy’s parents. But as the big day nears, they face the challenge of finding a way to forever.

More inspiring stories await in the Mother’s Day special lineup, featuring beloved films such as “A Mother Story” starring Pokwang, “Ama, Ina, Anak,” with Maricel Soriano, “Kung Mawawala Ka Pa” led by Dawn Zulueta, and many more.
