A flavorful journey through the heart of French cuisine
Award-winning actress, producer, and director Eva Longoria embarks on a delicious journey across France as she uncovers the rich history, traditions, and flavors behind the country’s world-renowned cuisine in “Eva Longoria: Searching for France,” premiering on Metro Channel on Sunday (August 23) at 7pm.
From Paris to Provence, Bordeaux, Alsace, Brittany, and Burgundy, Eva discovers how centuries of history, culture, and connection to the land shaped the French way of dining. She traces the origins of terroir, the French belief that the quality and character of food are deeply connected to where it is grown, as well as the evolution of French cuisine from royal tables to the modern restaurant.
Her culinary adventure takes her to some of France’s most iconic food destinations. In Paris, she samples an oyster dressed with rhubarb alongside legendary chef Alain Ducasse, who has earned 21 Michelin stars throughout his career. In Provence, she tastes the famed bouillabaisse, a traditional fish stew with roots stretching back thousands of years, while Bordeaux introduces her to celebrated wines paired with local delicacies.
Eva also ventures to the coastal region of Brittany, where she braves a storm before enjoying fresh oysters, crab, and blue lobster. In Burgundy, she meets Cistercian monks who continue the centuries-old tradition of terroir and handcraft their own creamy cheese.
The journey also satisfies Eva’s sweet tooth as she explores the artistry of French pâtisserie. She discovers decadent creations including the Dahlia cake, Cedric Grolet’s Mango cake, Rhum au Baba, and inventive pastries from Boneshaker Donut. She also gets the chance to create her own take on the iconic Ladurée macaron, combining spicy Mexican chocolate and vanilla ganache in a creation she calls the “Diablo.”
In a special culinary adventure along the Seine River, Eva joins three-Michelin-starred chef Eric Ripert and food writer Lindsay Tramuta for a traditional seven-course French fine-dining experience. Each dish reveals another chapter in the story of how French cuisine influenced and ultimately conquered the global culinary scene.
