Celebrating local award-winning films, timeless contemporary classics, and blockbuster hits

Cinema One celebrates Philippine cinema with “The Best Fest,” a month-long showcase of some of the most remarkable and beloved films in Philippine cinema. The celebration brings together award-winning and critically acclaimed films, celebrated romantic dramas, blockbuster hits, compelling stories, and timeless classics that have left a lasting mark on Filipino audiences.

As part of this celebration, Cinema One pays tribute to the legacy of Philippine Cinema through Restored Cinema, bringing back four acclaimed films in digitally restored and remastered format that showcase the artistry and storytelling of some of the country’s most respected filmmakers. Airing every Sunday at 10PM, the lineup features:

1. Forbidden desires collide with social expectations in “Hindi Nahahati Ang Langit” – Sept. 6

Directed by Mike de Leon, “Hindi Nahahati Ang Langit” follows Noel (Christopher De Leon) and Melody (Lorna Tolentino), step-siblings whose childhood rivalry grows more complicated as they enter adulthood. When they reunite as business partners years later, emotions they have long kept hidden begin to surface, putting their relationships and families at risk.

2. Women confront love, friendship, and independence in “Moral” – Sept. 13

Directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya, “Moral” follows four friends as they navigate the challenges of relationships, family, career, and finding their place in society. Through their individual journeys, the film offers an honest look at the pressures and choices faced by women as they search for fulfillment and independence.

3. Family, power, and survival collide in “Oro, Plata, Mata” – Sept. 20

Set during World War II, Peque Gallaga’s “Oro, Plata, Mata” follows two wealthy families whose lives are upended by war. Forced to leave their comfortable lives behind, they struggle to survive as violence, loss, and uncertainty reshape their relationships and social standing.

4. Love and faith are tested in “Kapag Langit ang Humatol” – Sept. 27

Directed by Laurice Guillen, “Kapag Langit ang Humatol” explores the lives of people caught between love, morality, and difficult circumstances. As their relationships are tested, they are forced to confront their beliefs, choices, and the consequences of their actions.
