Stand-up comedian Mitch Montecarlo Suansane proved her wit and humor could make her dreams come true as she bagged the crown at the “Miss Q and A InterTALAKtic 2019” grand finals on Saturday (February 23) at the Araneta Coliseum.

The beauty queen from Bataan outshone her fellow grand finalists based on the scores of the judges for her answer to the final question “What is the main reason society finds it hard to fully accept your gender or sexual orientation?”

In her brave response, Mitch attributed the prejudice against the LGBTQ community to the Philippines being predominantly Catholic and explained that Filipinos were raised on the idea that only men and women are acknowledged in the Bible. She also added that gay people are “part of everything” and all people are created equally by God.

Mitch beat this season’s only hall of famer, Czedy Rodriguez, who was named first runner-up, and her fellow stand-up comedian Chad Kinis Lustre-Reid, who finished as second runner-up.

As the “Miss Q & A InterTALAKtic 2019,” Mitch took home a brand new throne, a trophy, and a crown worth P450,000, a “pampa-fresh” package worth P200,000, a livelihood package worth P200,000, an all-expense paid winter trip for two to South Korea, a brand new car and P50,000 worth of products from Aficionado, a “retoke” package worth P500,000, and P2 million.

Mitch is known for impersonating her idol Celine Dion, and came back to the competition as a “resbekie” in the “resbak” or wildcard week, and successfully qualified for the semifinals and the grand finals.

From ten grand finalists, Mitch made it to the top six, then beat crowd favorite Brenda Mage in the “Debattle” round to place in the final three.

The “Miss Q and A InterTALAKtic 2019: The Final Chukchak… Vaklang Twooo!” grand finalists were assessed by a panel of judges, composed of Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz, Karylle, Ricci Rivero, Joel Cruz, Nicole Cordoves, Maymay Entrata, James Reid, Bea Alonzo, and Charo Santos-Concio.

Host Vice Ganda opened the show wearing a yellow gown that said “You don’t gain anything from hurting us” and introduced the candidates who wore blue, white, and yellow costumes to symbolize the colors of the Philippine flag.

The “Miss Q and A” grand finals also gave out special awards, such as the Beks in Costume to Elthon Bequio, Beks in Chukchak or introduction to Dionisia Clara Dela Fuente, Beshie ng Bayan or Miss Congeniality to Brenda, Beks in Long Gown to Ayesha Lopez, and the “Ganda Ka?” award or most photogenic to Anne Patricia Lorenzo.

After the run of “Miss Q and A InterTALAKtic 2019,” “It’s Showtime” is launching the new segment “KapareWho,” a compatibility game featuring single and widowed people who are 40 and older, and looking for a second chance, friendship, and companionship. The leading noontime show also continues its countdown to its tenth anniversary this year.
