Laurice Guillen’s directorial debut celebrates 39th anniversary
Laurice Guillen’s “Kasal?,” which stars Christopher De Leon and Hilda Koronel, is ready to charm a new generation of viewers as its digitally restored and remastered version airs on ABS-CBN’s “Sunday’s Best” this April 14 in celebration of the movie’s 39th year.
Guillen’s directorial debut first captivated audiences in 1980 with its relevant story, brilliant production, and incredible performances from its equally talented lead actors. It is also one of over 100 classic films that was digitally restored and remastered by ABS-CBN Film Archives and Restoration, which gives Filipino viewers a chance to appreciate great works from the Philippines’ cinematic masters in high quality and preserves the nation’s cinematic heritage.
The movie follows engaged couple Joel (Christopher De Leon) and Grace (Hilda Koronel) who travel down memory lane in an attempt to move on from the past. But before wedding bells ring, fate intervenes to make Joel and Grace cross paths with their old flames. Feelings of doubt take over, forcing the young couple to question if they are truly ready to begin a new chapter together.
ABS-CBN has been airing digitally restored and remastered movies via “Sunday’s Best” to make classic films more accessible to viewers on free TV, as we lead up to the Centennial Year of Philippine Cinema on September 12, 2019.
