Five band vocalists who use their voices for a living are fighting it out to make their dreams come true in the week-long Quarter 3 semifinals of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” on “It’s Showtime.”
Since Monday (April 1), the five contenders have impressed the hurados and the madlang people in hopes of securing one of the two coveted spots in the grand finals.
One of them is Marco Adobas of Quezon City, who worked as a factory worker, construction worker, dishwasher, bagger, and shoe salesman before relying full-time on his talent for income. After failing to graduate from high school, he wants to make it up to his parents and give them a better future.
Bulacan’s Annabel Dularte, meanwhile, is a hardworking breadwinner who provides for her mother, a sick sibling, and two children – all of them living in one tiny apartment. With an entire family supporting her, she will fight with all her heart to become the next “Tawag ng Tanghalan” grand champion.
Since he was seven, Samar’s Eric Cagadas has been competing in singing contests to help his family financially. Aside from being a certified ‘kontesero,’ he also creates campaign jingles, sells clothes in different barangays, fishes for food, and aspires to become a singing superstar.
Also hailing from Samar is Jonas Oñate, who has experienced asking for money on the streets and working as a househelp before being recruited to join a band and working abroad. With a unique voice, he hopes to win “Tawag ng Tanghalan” after spending his entire life trying out for several singing competitions.
The youngest among the semifinalists, grade 12 student Charizze Arnigo of Surigao, is unfazed by her more experienced rivals. While her dream is to establish a beauty parlor, she wants to share her talent with the world and ultimately win viewers’ hearts with her voice.
Like in the previous semis battles, the judges’ scores (50%) and the madlang people’s votes (50%) will determine the contenders that will make it to the grand finals.
Will one of them be the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” Year 3’s grand champion?
To support your favorite contenders, vote for them by texting TAWAG (space) (Name of Semifinalist) and send to 2366 for all networks (P1 per vote). A SIM card can only send one vote per day.
