No one can escape issues and problems in life, whether concerning personal relationships, medical, or legal. Luckily, there are people who are willing to listen, lend a helping hand, and offer guidance to Filipinos, just like DZMM’s band of experts from the programs “Dr. Love Radio Show,” “Dra. Bles at Ur Serbis,” and “Usapang de Campanilla.”
“Dr. Love Radio Show” of Bro. Jun Banaag, O.P. focuses on the matters of the heart. Touted as one of the best counseling programs on radio, “Dr. Love Radio Show” encourages people to speak up about their problems in life and to see situations from a different perspective. With a personal approach in giving advice to his listeners, Bro. Jun has won a legion of followers who call the Kapamilya network’s AM station to seek advice on romantic or familial concerns. Listeners can also request music, send in text greetings, and exchange stories on the show, so they will be entertained and won’t feel alone even during sad moments.
Bro. Jun shared why he has continued to do the program, which has been on air for more than two decades.
“Knowing that you have helped a single soul is fulfilling already. It is finding time to listen to the problems of listeners that makes the day fulfilling. Most of the time, people need someone to just listen to their problems,” he said.
Meanwhile, Filipinos with medical questions can always rely on “Dra. Bles at Ur Serbis,” which aims to make Filipinos have a better understanding of their health. Since the program’s inception in 2002, it continues to win audiences during its timeslot for inspiring people to take care of their health in order to achieve and maintain a good life for themselves and their loved ones. Followers of the show can even have an “on-air” checkup with Dra. Bles, who is able to explain medical conditions, treatments, and breakthroughs in a manner that’s easy to grasp for its listeners and viewers.
“Our program has stood the test of time because we have helped our audience comprehend issues related to health and science. We share with them important information in the simplest way we can so they can easily understand the answers to their questions when they consult on-air,” Dra. Bles shared.
On the other hand, Filipinos who have legal concerns can turn to “Usapang de Campanilla,” which has been giving sound and free consultations for a decade now. With anchor Mare Yao, legal experts Atty. Claire Castro and Atty. Noel del Prado are always ready to listen to their audiences’ legal woes and inquiries and shed light on the issues burdening them. They also feature different government agencies that can help Filipinos, and answer questions even from those abroad like overseas workers in Hong Kong.
According to Mare, it is important that Filipinos understand the law and its application more, that is why at the start of the program, they first discuss the legal aspects of a pressing issue like a bill in Congress or a Supreme Court decision.
“Ignorance of the law excuses no one. Knowing the law can equip a person and it can protect their families and themselves,” she said.
Atty. Claire added that through their show, there will hopefully be fewer people who will be victims of injustice.
“Less privileged people are usually those who could not afford to fight for their rights because getting the best lawyers in town is quite costly. With this program, we could educate them of their rights and obligations,” she explained.
