AC, BGYO, SB19, and more join “Bababa” dance trend
Rising P-pop group 1621 landed on Spotify Philippines Viral Songs Chart with their single “Bababa” peaking in the top 30.
The infectious pop track from their latest extended play (EP) “Sapulso” has earned over 300,000 streams and continues to rise on the chart peaking at no. 26. Various celebrities have also joined the “Bababa” dance trend including AC Bonifacio, BGYO, “PBB Gen 11’s” Kolette Madelo, Jas Scales, Rain Celmar, SB19, and many more.
1621 members JM, JC, Pan, Win, Migz, and DJ described their new music as a defining moment for the group where they found the sound that perfectly embodies them.
“Dito po talaga namin na-receive ‘yung reaction ng supporters from social media platforms na ‘bagay sa kanila mga ganitong songs, ito ‘yung song na nagsu-suit talaga sa kanila.’ So doon po namin na-realize na ‘ah oo nga naman, ‘yun talaga ‘yung song namin kasi pag-pinerform po namin para mas confident, comfortable kami,’” JM said in an interview with Push.
Aside from climbing the charts, “Bababa” was featured in numerous editorial playlists such as Spotify’s OPM Rising, PPop On The Rise, Viral Hits PH, and New Music Friday PH.
1621 performed the viral song at the recently held conference for communications students, Pinoy Media Congress 2025 organized by ABS-CBN and PACE at the University of Makati.
Early this year, they performed a medley of their songs at the PBA Finals Game’s halftime show and in the first leg of BINIverse World Tour 2025 pre-show held at the Philippine Arena.
