
Joshua, Kim, FranSeth win top honors
ABS-CBN bagged multiple honors for its outstanding programs and artists at Philippine Movie Press Club’s (PMPC) 37th Star Awards for Television.
Star Magic actor Joshua Garcia took home the trophy for Best Drama Actor for his portrayal of Renz Isidro, a nurse based in Switzerland who fell in love with a mother and her daughter in the romance drama “Unbreak My Heart.” He was also named Male Celebrity of the Night and Face of the Night at the awarding ceremony.
“It’s Showtime,” was hailed Best Variety Show, while Kim Chiu was named Best Female TV Host. Robi Domingo was also recognized as Best Male TV Host.
Veteran actress Cherry Pie Picache was named Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Marites Dimaguiba in the hit action-drama series, “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin also received a special recognition, the German Moreno Power Tandem of the Year award, for their extraordinary on-screen chemistry and for being one of the country’s most in-demand love teams.
Meanwhile, Elijah Canlas and Gela Atayde, who played Archie Aguerro and Sanya Alba in the mystery teen drama “Senior High,” took home the Best Supporting Actor and Best New Female TV Personality honors, respectively.
In the news category, veteran broadcast journalist and “TV Patrol” host Karen Davila received the prestigious Best Female Newscaster award.
The Star Awards for Television is PMPC’s annual awarding ceremony that recognizes outstanding programs and personalities in the country.
