Bela shines as one of the three central stars of the series
Richard Gutierrez, Bela Padilla, and Gerald Anderson take center stage in an action-packed tale of national conflict, bound by duty, truth, and choices in ABS-CBN’s “Blood vs Duty,” streaming on Netflix beginning Friday (April 3), iWant starting Saturday (April 4), and ABS-CBN sa ALLTV2, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and Kapamilya Online Live beginning Monday (April 6), 8pm.
Bela, who plays the role of Lara Angeles, an investigative agent marked by a painful past, said the series is indeed action-driven with a fresh narrative that aspires to push the boundaries of television storytelling.
“Maaksyon talaga siya, as in ang fast-paced niya,” teased Bela in her Kapamilya Chat interview.
“I’m so impressed with the writing of the show. I want to push for intelligent content, especially on mainstream media. Itaas natin ang quality, and I think ‘Blood vs Duty’ is trying to do that,” she added.
Meanwhile, netizens noticed the hidden element of the Philippine flag in the series’ poster, with Richard, Bela, and Gerald positioned as the three stars at the heart of the conflict.
JRB Creative Production business unit head Julie Anne R. Benitez said the “Blood vs Duty” poster designed by Justin Besana indeed vividly brought their vision of the series to life.
“The hidden Philippine flag in the poster was very intentional. It reflects how Richard, Bela, and Gerald are the three stars carrying different sides of one story–three perspectives, one nation, one truth,” she said.
For Richard, who plays the role of a special agent named Marcus Reyes, more than the intense action the series has to offer, viewers will appreciate how each character unfolds.
“S’yempre yung action namin nandyan to intensify the story. Pero I think dito sa ‘Blood vs Duty’ talagang kakapit yung audience natin sa kwento, sa characters. Malalim yung pinagdadaanan ng mga characters dito,” shared Richard.
Portraying Jalil Abubakar, a community protector drawn into a confrontation with government forces over allegations of arms dealing, Gerald believes the series will keep audiences on the edge of their seats each episode.
“Bawat episode nasa dulo kayo ng upuan ninyo. Di ninyo alam anong mangyayari. Ang ganda kasi ng bawat karakter,. This is an ensemble cast, kanya-kayang napakagandang kwento” said Gerald.
Joining Richard, Bela, and Gerald are Baron Geisler, the fearless agent Felix Domingo, and Barbie Imperial, who takes on the role of the kind yet fierce Jamilah Abubakar.
